What we keep, and why

The short version: we store what's needed to run your account, remember your progress, and let the Professor remember you. We don't sell data, we don't run advertising, and analytics are anonymous. Everything lives in the UK except the Professor's replies, which are generated by Anthropic.

What we don't do

We don't sell or share your data with advertisers, and there are no third-party ad or tracking pixels.
The Professor is yours alone. It only ever sees your own progress and conversations — never another student's — and nothing you tell it is used to tutor anyone else.
Anthropic processes Professor messages to generate replies under its API terms and does not use them to train its models.
The playground runs on your own machine. Your GPU, trained models and any API keys you paste into it never reach our servers.

Cookies and local storage

We use one cookie, szl_id, to prove you're signed in when a page loads, and your browser's local storage for your theme, your sign-in session, your progress and small preferences such as whether you've taken the tour. There are no advertising cookies. The analytics banner lets you decline analytics entirely.

Services we rely on

Amazon Web Services (hosting and storage, London region), Anthropic (generating the Professor's replies, United States — the only data that leaves the UK), Stripe (payments and VAT), Google Fonts (typefaces; your browser requests them from Google), and YouTube where a lesson embeds a video. Each processes data only to provide its service to us.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or have it erased. You can delete your account yourself from the account page: deletion is scheduled with a 14-day grace period (signing back in cancels it), after which everything above is removed. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Age

The curriculum is written for people with a data-science or AI degree; you need to be 16 or older to create an account.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so on this page with a new date and, for significant changes, by email.
